I’m a guy and as much as I like to hear you guys talk, I like having the woman’s perspective as well. BUT, unlike the emailer from the podcast, I enjoy the strong language and would hate to get rid of that. In fact, I choose strong language over women. The Ordain Movement should definitely be addressed, especially as conference approaches. Also I’m really looking forward to the hypnotist guy. I’ll raise my hand to vote for a multi-part episode with that guy!

Levi — I don’t expect we will be changing our tone at all — just continuing to open up to other voices and ways of expression. So in other words, Tom will still say his flippity flips no matter how offensive it is to non-Utah-Mormon ears.
And as for the hypnotist episode…. are you saying you don’t remember it? I guess the post hypnotic suggestion at the end of it really worked then.
(Just kidding — we haven’t actually done it yet. I’ll send a note to Paul about it now, cuz I want to hear that one, too — especially how his understanding of all that stuff changed the way he viewed Joseph Smith).

Look, I like to hear from women and hear about women’s issues but it also gets old. Sorry. I like Infants because it is a guys club. I have very few guy friends that I can share your type of humor with. So I kind of live vicariously through your podcast. Let the other podcast’s talk about women’s issues and worry about proper male to female ratios. Don’t change. If a woman comes along that fits in or has something interesting to contribute, then fine. But don’t get all self conscious about it. I love the podcast and think you guys get better as time goes on. Five stars. Or ten. Just keep up the good work.

Hey, women are welcome here, right?
Seriously, I am (gulp) a girl myself, but I have to agree with Jed. Please don’t add a token female voice just to add a female voice. I have loved it when Olivia has appeared on the podcast. Add one when it otherwise makes sense, but don’t do anything but get better at what you are already doing.
There are some great places to go for a feminist perspective, but I absolutely would hate to see IOT change to be something else. I hope I won’t have to hand in my feminist card to admit it, but I agree with Jed. I like the humor, love the banter between the panelists. Dare I admit it? My favorite parts usually begin with an expletive and end with a Tom sigh.

It’s not about adding any “token” female contributors for the sake of political correctness. The listener essays keep our content fresh (I think so at least) and I just wanted everyone to be clear that the Open Invitation we extended last September was an equal opportunity invitation — because seriously — there have been so many comments about this in the current survey. Too many.

I’m all for more female listener essays. But I’m hoping the quorum remains as currently constituted (accept more Bro. Jake is always good!). I love that IOT is a bunch of guys who just bullshit and play off each others’ comments. I think adding a female to the quorum could possibly disrupt that.

Would also love an essay on OW but not sure if any of the OW members would be willing to join in on a discussion here…
